Project "Haiti 2010," was birthed as a result of the massive earthquake earlier this year. The goal is to plant 10,000 mango trees in each of Haiti's 10 departments. The start date is December 2010, and the end date is December 2012.

After attending several meetings after the earthquake in Haiti, Dr. Pierre has decided to put his next book on hold in order to join the efforts on the ground. Before the earthquake, Haiti had a severe environmental problem in the area of erosion. The paisants and people living outside of the major metropolitan areas are still using trees as charcoals. As a result, erosion was a disaster in the making. Haiti 2010 is responding to this problem. I want you to help me plant 100,000 mango trees within 24 months. Why mango trees? Research has shown that the Haitian peasants will not cut a mango tree for the following reasons: It grows one of their favorite fruits, and those mangos can be used as a means of barter or exchange among them. We believe that project is sustainable. Visit the project on Facebook by searching my name.
