My main motivation behind Secrets of Clay Animation Revealed and my business "Animate Clay" is to bring the art form to every day people. With the power of the internet anyone can learn what used to be so hard to find information about.
I started out watching a lot of TV commercials that came out of Will Vinton Studios in the late 80's. A lot of people will tell you they were inspired by King Kong or Ray Harryhausen. For me it was those quirky and crazy clay characters such as the Dominoes Noid, California Raisins and the KFC chicken spots.
After high school I quickly got work for John Lemmon Films, and then Webster Colcord Studios in Portland. I learned the craft from them as well as my contacts at Will Vinton Studios. Mike McKinney and John Ashlee aren't names you hear on TV, but those two guys taught me so much and I'm really greatful. If I hadn't met them I never would have such an in depth understanding of puppet making and animation like I do now.
