MICHAEL PHELPS
A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, served in the United States Air Force as a Military Police - Combat Defense Forces during the Viet Nam war. I am happily divorced (at least I hope my former wife is, I did not deserve her in the first place). I split my time between New York City and Miami, Florida with my faithful German Shepherd, Rico der Hunter III.
I have lived a loonngg and complicated life; I've traveled each and every highway, and many byways. I've stumbled, even fallen down a few times, but I've always been able to pick myself up, dust myself off and start all over again. I can say, with all humility, I DID IT MY WAY!
I co-authored "DAVID JANSSEN-MY FUGITIVE" with Ellie Janssen, the late actor's first wife. The book was published in 1994-95 by Lifetime Books of Hollywood, Florida. With the moderate success of this book, I decided to utilize my experience as Chief Investigator for a Coral Gables, Florida Law firm, specializing in criminal defense, and write crime novels based on actual cases. I enjoy writing and hope to refine my skills to reach the point my writing can pay the bills.
Writers I enjoy and who have an impact on me are PATRICIA CORNWELL, JOHN GRISHAM, SUE GRAFTON, JOHN SANDFORD, NORA ROBERTS, JANET EVANOVICH, JAMES PATTERSON, MICHAEL BALKIND, MICHAEL BERISH, and many more.

THE EXECUTION OF JUSTICE, a novel.
Mike Walsh and his partner Brad Reccio are patrol officers with the Indianapolis Police Department. On a frigid, snowy Christmas Eve, they are dispatched to a domestic dispute. As they arrive, shots ring out, and Brad is seriously wounded. Walsh calls for a "Code One - Officer Down", and all available police units respond alsong with the Fire-Rescue. Walsh crawls on his belly past his wounded partner, then stands and faces the gunman, who is holding a little girl hostage. Walsh spends sevferal tense minutes talking the man into surrendering. Reccio is rushed to the hospital and into surgery.
Two months later, Walsh is promoted to Detective and assigned to his one-time mentor, Detective Sergeant Jack Lovell, in the elite Robbery-Homicide Division. The detective team muddle through several routine cases of armed robberies, and a couple of homicides, which they easily solve. Then they are handed a case of a violent gang on an armed robbery spree. With each robbery, the gang becomes more vicious. Lovell and Walsh have no real clues, there is no physical evidence left at the scenes of the crimes, and victims' and witnesses' descriptions of the perpetrators are so conflicted and strange, the detectives have no positive identities of possible suspects.
Walsh and his wife begin to have problems, as she objects to his long hours, his being distant when he is home, their failure to start a family.
Tragedy strikes the detectives as they execute a raid on a home where a Confidential Informant tipoped Walsh the suspects were hiding out.
Walsh's wife cannot take the stress of being a cop's wife. She leaves him, returning to her parents home in Connecticut. He turns to alcohol to fight his deepening depression. Thoughts of suicide rumble in his alcohol-soaked brain. What can he do? Will he survive?
