Michael William Hogan is an accomplished career marketer, having held key senior-level executive management positions with prominent global agencies: Rapp Collins Worldwide; Y&R Brands/Wunderman; Grey Advertising; Phoenix Group Inc.; and Motu Productions, LLC. Interestingly, most colleagues and others in the industry never realized that the whole time he was actually a “closet creative”. Over the course of his marketing career, Michael had been a prolific writer, compiling an impressive portfolio of award-winning print and broadcast ad copy; direct mail; brochures and collateral materials; website content; speeches; video scripts; and meeting and presentation scripts.
In the fall of 2006, Michael acted on a decision to transition his career to full-time writer and “closet marketer”. He left the corporate rat race in southern California and relocated to the mountains southwest of Denver, Colorado where he has had the opportunity to focus on his life-long passion of writing for the enjoyment of others. His works include children’s books, short stories, feature film screenplays and the occasional business profile written for a local mountain newspaper.
“Herds of Birds and Flocks of Fish”—a fun picture book that helps young children to learn the proper names for selected groups of birds and animals—was Michael’s first children’s book. He has also recently completed “Phoebe Phreckles Discovers Her New Home and Family”; the first in a series of “Phoebe Phreckles Discovers…” children’s books about the life, adventures and discoveries of an English springer spaniel puppy and her human family.
Michael is also currently working on his third feature film screenplay, which will be a high concept comedy. His first, a suspense/thriller entitled “Hunger”, has garnered impressive coverage, awards and accolades in screenplay competitions. Exemplifying his diverse writing abilities, Michael’s second screenplay was a dramedy about a film student who sets off on a cross-country trip to produce a documentary about road kill.
Michael splits his time between two primary residences: a large log home high up in the Rocky Mountains with his wife, two dogs, one cat, and the numerous elk, deer, bear and other wildlife that make daily visits to their property; and a private island resort in the Kingdom of Tonga, South Pacific.
