"Good things don't come easy, my son," my grandmother Victoria Delgado Franco said. A Destiny Foretold was initiated thirty-six years ago as a preliminary novel for the forthcoming trilogy of her time in history."

I was born in Crystal City, Texas in 1944. My grandmother began telling me stories at the age of six. She related our stories passed on to her by our Spanish ancestors from Galicia, Castilla y León, and the Aragón regions. Her stories took me back to 1796 in Texas. I am now researching genealogical records that can date back to the early 1700s in the Victoria, Texas region. As the years progressed, I knew naught what to do with the voluminous box at hand and all the notes and tapes I forthrightly amassed. Our untold, bountiful and courageous history of our forefathers opening the new frontier in the Americas for the other Europeans is documented but inaccessible and well hidden in clandestine libraries in this our country.
My grandmother, Victoria, encouraged me to write her stories, "for one day, the world will know."

Soon, I will again start on The Legacy. This will be Book I of the trilogy of my grandmother's stories. I have to keep promoting A Destiny Foretold for another 10 months to keep the sales ongoing. This task and my administrator's contract job with the school district is a challenge.
In October 16 & 17, 2004, I will serve in a panel, read and sign my novel at the Latino Family Book Festival with James Edward Olmos and George Lopez. Tony Diaz of Nuestra Palabra, Latinos Having Their Say initiated this great event for the public. Free Admission.

A Destiny Foretold
A Destiny Foretold shows how the Mexican Revolution of 1910 hurled young Antonio into the turbulent, perilous and comical events and the choices he made that weaved him through life and lived to tell the tale. The purpose is to show how a person must never lose the will to endure in the face of adversity and by embracing hope—one can overcome all odds.
