Many know me as a card carrying Harlem YBI(Young, Black, Intellectual). Yet, my suffering ends not there though. Imagine, if you will an ambitious, nice looking, left handed, female who's in possession of a treasure so precious that fear of exposure is constant. GOODNESS! UNLIMITED PAIN & SUFFERING!
DAMN! I WAS DEFINITELY BORN TO BE A POET!

Background

First and foremost I have to acknowledge the extraordinary poets of the Harlem Renaisance, for their work has most influenced me. It is on the shoulders of these Harlem giants that I stand. As a Harlem poet of the new renaissance I hope to live up to the remarkable standard that they have put forth. In addition, to the incomparable works of these Harlem poets, in times of heartbreak and pain the written word has both consoled me and served as an inspiration. My greatest friends have indeed been my pencil and paper. I thank them tremendously for always having my back even when so called friends and lovers didn't. All of the anguish that I have encountered throughout my life has definitely set the stage for my writings. Additionally, taking a literature class in college also opened my world to the power of poetry and creative writing.
