A chameleon, able to shift between accepted society and bohemian back street life, I relish in the extremes of life.

Poetry about the ups and downs of life in everyday living pad most of my portfolio at http://patrice.writing.com. Short stories and editorial articles, as well as essays about being a Baby Boomer are also my forte.
My poems have been published in the anthologies: The Best Poems and Poets of 2004, Theatre of the Mind, and Invoking the Muse. I plan to self-publish my first anthology called "Colouring Outside the Lines," by October of 2005.
I taught English and English as a Second Language in Texas for 13 years. Since then, my post graduate studies have included mental health issues (especially bipolar disorder), philosophy, psychology, sociology, and comparative/contrastive world religions and cultures. I love the outdoors, going to the lake or beach, and playing with my two cats and two big dogs.
I tutor high school students on a one-to-one basis. My interest in multi and retro-culture, politics, and environmental issues provides a background for my editorials and non-fiction works.
I'm also currently working on three novels: A Cultural Crevice, Butch, and Ghetto Ghandi and His Suicidal Sidekick: The Urban Legend of a Teenage Boy.
My goal as a writer is to provoke question, and evoke thought and emotion. Critiques and market leads are much appreciated.
