My writing skills have been in the corporate world as a Regional Education Manager/ Seminar Trainer for Wella USA, North Eastern Division.  In this, the field of Cosmetology, I wrote benchmark tests, designed instructional workbooks, composed lesson plans and conducted seminars for Wella Salon Systems; all of which remained the property of Wella.  Previously the proprietor and Colorist of Mane Attraction Salon and Tanning in N.J. Artist in oils and more recently, an Interior Decorator.  Tabling my desire to put on paper all the ideas and stories I've told as a mother of three, and grandmother to six, for many  years, I  am now a full time writer/author.

Story telling I believe, is innate.  You either have it or you don't.  I believe I do. Writing it is more difficult for me, as my mind works so much faster than my fingers on the keyboard. I am passionate about preserving our oceans and beaches, I adore kids of all ages, and am inspired by my grandkids who range in age from two to seventeen.  My first book; a present day fable with a slant can be enjoyed by all ages, however I am targeting tweens for a good reason. 

 Living at the shore most of my life, I become infuriated whenever I see people who have just spent a delightful day frolicking in the ocean and sunning on the beach, walk away leaving their trash behind. My idea is to spread awareness through a fable with adventure, family interests, comedy, and factual information, while entertaining the reader.  Kids today have a hectic, pressure filled schedule and need to read for pleasure to relax.  Ergo, a fable filled with fact, to draw attention to a serious problem, while at the same time entertaining and not coming off as a textbook on marine ecology.

Olivia's Magic Conch/ A Mystical, Modern Day Fable educates tweens about the wonders of the sea and all we derive from it.  Equally important, the danger it poses to birds, fish, plants, and of course humans when trash becomes deadly. But the curve is, they are so into the adventure and the mystical fantasy that brings them there, they do not feel as if this is a lesson at all. They will come away more aware of a serious problem and they will spread the word, starting at home.  Slowly but surely more and more beach trashers will make a deposit in a handy receptacle as they exit the beaches.  It works.  Kids rule!  Do you remember when either your kids or grandchildren came home with the information that second hand smoke is dangerous.  It was better than all the commercials and doctor's threats to get you to quit smoking.  They  would not let up.  I believe this can work the same way......because kids love to tell their parents what to do, when they know what they are talking about.  They are savvy, smart and much more outspoken than we were.  I'm depending on those attributes.
