Hello!Thank you for finding me. I'm Pen Kease and I write for the educational market, producing teaching materials for Personal, Social and Health Education. All my work so far is based on and around films.
I also have a fantasy novel which I've been working on for the last four years, and I've been known to write poetry and picture books.

My educational work arose from my secondary teaching career, which spanned sixteen years. During that period I taught English and a range of other subjects, too. The abilities of my students ranged from special needs to academic so I often couldn't find suitable materials. That's when I started to write seriously.
My favourite author at the moment is David Almond. I picked up 'Clay' in a bookshop recently and couldn't put it down until I'd finished it - and then I bought it. Now I'm reading Heaven Eyes...

Accomplishments

When I was young I went to art college but I didn't stay - just two years. It was a long time before I entered education again. I went to university late - a year after being widowed and with two young daughters to look after. After my degree at Bath Spa, I took an MA at Reading. I followed that with a PGCE and became a teacher.

Young Parents – Pressures and Problems is a PSHE resource for Key Stage 4. A powerful film drama tells the story of Nicki and Lee, an unmarried teenage couple struggling with the responsibility of parenthood.
Pupil activities explore themes of child abuse through neglect, alcohol abuse and bereavement. This is out now, and I'm currently working on another one - 'Young Offender'. Watch this space!

Dramatic Media Ltd
Dramatic Media is the company I currently work with. They produce amazing films which work in the classroom. What I particularly like is the fact that they don't patronise their audiences.
