It’s hard to conjure images of success for any woman when sexual abuse, drug abuse, teenage pregnancy and fatherlessness are involved. It’s even harder to success where there is high school dropout and a woman with low self-esteem. Author, entrepreneur, inspirational speaker and role model most likely aren’t among the thoughts associated with such ills…but Rekindle isn’t just any woman. Rekindle Jackson is so much more. Born on August 5, 1980 in Atlanta, Georgia to Allison Jackson and Zachery Shannon, Rekindle has been searching for peace all of her life. Her parents were living of life of the streets. Allison was a victim of pain and was filled with a lot of hurt from her own problems prior to Rekindle’s birth. Her problems included a cocaine addiction. Zachery was not in her life, he was a man that ran the streets. He was very controlling and aggressive. At the age of five he removed himself from her life. She was also molested by a family member during her childhood. The unforgiving home issues led Rekindle to deal in the drug trade, drop out of school in the 9th grade and become a mother at the age of 14. A third pregnancy at the age of 21 and the death of Eva L. Jackson, Rekindle’s grandmother who was her best friend and the love of her life sparked a desire to start a life that she never had, a life of peace. She found herself in a place where it was time for her to give back the love Eva had given to her and others. Jackson’s journey has given her a profound insight on life and personal perseverance. In spite of all the obstacles before Rekindle, she has rekindled her life and become a huge success. The single mother of three now owns and operates a successful catering business in her hometown of Atlanta.
