My writing style has been devastatingly influenced by my former career as a journalist and assisted by my painful experience as an undergraduate at U.C. Berkeley where I completed a B.A. Degree in History in 1973. I was forced to live through some history in the process of earning my B.A. I am currently devoting my writing energies to poetry which was my original successful genre beginning in elementary school. I am constantly editing a growing collection of poems which is printed annually in an updated edition. This year's edition has come out in the form of an annual magazine entitled OMNIBUS with a Library of Congress catalogue number. From now on I will publish this annual journal with a different theme title every year. This year's theme title is "5p.m." I read my work regularly with the Pig Iron Press poetry group in Youngstown, Ohio. We get together the second Tuesday of every month usually at Tomasino's Pizza Parlor in downtown Youngstown. Other reading venues are Border's Books in the East Liberty location of Pittsburgh where I was "featured poet" and the Te Cafe in the Squirrel Hill part of Pittsburgh. Us poets have all we can handle around here and New York City is a quick drive away.
Accomplishments: My poetry contest record is two second place poetry contest awards which give me some comfort in knowing someone out there gives me credit for not having fallen off the hay wagon as a poet. I was invited to read as "featured poet" at the East side Poetry Gathering at Border's Books in East Liberty -- a suburb of Pittsburgh PA. Generally I do not participate in contests. I read as much as possible and consider my audiences to be the ultimate judges of what I write. A good round of applause is as good as winning first place in any poetry contest.
