A great deal of time and a lot of tears were spent in writing this book. Now it's finally published.

Background Information

I'm a former Marine and Vietnam Veteran. My book, "A Purpose for Sacrifice", is a historical fiction with fictional characters.  Even though it is a Fictional Novel, most of the events are true and the main character represents my frame of mind at the time and it was a very difficult experience to say the least and I spent a good 30 years putting it together, changing it several times before I got it published.

First time published author. I'm also writing columns in the Constitutionalist today paper and website. Read my column, "I'm a Patriot".

Additional Information

Much of the publicity about those who fought and died in Vietnam did not paint a true picture. It wasn't all about the battle, the horrors of war. Men killing men. We weren't baby killers, even though I know those things happen in war and have been reported. It seems we all were accused of such things due to the actions of only a few. The news media can't seem to find events that were honorable when it comes to reporting in the crisis of war. Like the times when a child or baby was rescued and saved by an American service man. Not enough can be said about the sacrifice of the medical personnel either; Corpsman, medics, nurses and doctors. The good deeds they did, sometimes at great risks as many lost their lives in the process. Let us not forget the Helicopter crews that often rescued others under fire. They are real heroes. These things are hardly ever reported. That is one of the reasons that I wrote this book. The other reason was to show that There was a compassionate and caring side as many gave everything to help the Vietnamese people and even sacrificed their own lives. But the greatest sacrifice of all, was that Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose on the third day and will return again and for those who believe in Him, will be with Him forever. It doesn't matter if you do not believe this or not, it will happen someday. I wanted to be able to proclaim this in my book. All in all I dedicate this writing to the men and women in the military during the Vietnam war and any other war our country gets into. For those that made it back, welcome home and for those who didn't, we will always remember them.
