They are not long, the days of wine and roses:
Out of a misty dream
Our path emerges for a while, then closes
Within a dream.
-- Ernest Dowson, 1867-1900 --
Indeed, life is short, but writing recharges my soul by keeping my mind active and my imagination vivid.

Background
Information
|
|
I worked for 30 years as a tech writer for the Panama Canal Commission and learned how the Canal operates. My office investigated ship accidents in the Canal and I conceived a story based on an accident investigation which became my first novel, The Sage. I followed this with a sequel and then changed direction to write about my community theater experiences. I am presently working on an adventure novel set in the Darien jungle of Panama.
Recently I have enjoyed writing short stories. I like this venue because I can say what I have to say without worrying about length.
I am an avid reader and my interest covers a wide range of fiction and nonfiction. I cannot single out any one author who has influenced my style. I prefer a simple straightforward type of writing, similar to that of Hemingway.
I am now in my 70's, which is a bit late in life to take up writing. As long as I stay healthy and take my writers vitamins every day, I will continue the joy of writing.
