Ronald Christopher Zurek is the Benton County Coordinator for the MNGenWeb/USGenWeb Project and has developed a Web site for individuals with a genealogical or other interest in this Central Minnesota region.

Background Information

SAUK RAPIDS AND BENTON COUNTY is Ron's first book which takes the reader on a 100-year journey with nearly 200 vintage photographs from a primitive wilderness of the 1850s to a "modern" community of the 1950s. Ron has deep family roots in Benton County: his great-grandfather, Edmund Mark Zawacki, homesteaded in Gilmanton Township and was in charge of wood lots for the government. One of Edmund's sons and Ron's grandfather John worked on a section crew for the Great Northern Pacific Railroad.
