Every day I walk my dog by a creek. Somebody found an endangered amphibian swimming around there and so it still flows right through a housing development. (Nobody has seen the amphibian since.)
The creek is crammed with cattails and peppered with tiny fish. As I walk across the little bridge, every day, I have the same thought.
"I wonder if there's a body in there?"
Writing mysteries is how I let the macabre part of me out for exercise. I add a lot of humor, because I think fiction should be fun, and a lot of weird characters.
One day I checked out a couple library books on the rainforest. I admired pictures of rushing water, climbing plants, and cute, furry critters.
Then I thought, hey, let's drop chopped-off human hand in it!
Thus, Why Rita Hates Monkeys was born. It's a wild romp through the rainforest. It's full of humor, dramatic events, and rainforest facts.
And yes, there's licorice.
