I am old enough to remember sweet rationing but young enough to work an I pod. My first memory of story telling was to the younger classes at my primary school. My class teacher there encouraged this and my writing. I have an Arts and enginering background. I have been employed as; A shop assistant, Aircraft Mechanic, Advertising Manager, Staff Writer, Lecturer, Theatre Set Designer, Garden Designer, Professional Model Maker, Travel Writer and Researcher. I have been influenced by the Sixties, the Classics and women. I love the quirky and the faintly ridiculous. I am an incurably pragmatic romantic. I adore most books, except those that I consider a waste of paper - but if an author has taken the trouble to write the words - the least I can do is take the trouble to read them.

Making it to 58 years old without major damage. Falling in love with Greece

I first visited Greece in the days of the Colonels. My new and lovely wife and I stepped ashore on Poros having endured a hideous flight on an aeroplane with a thatched cockpit and outside lavatory followed by a 2 hour coach journey and a very short crossing on an ex WW2 landing craft. Tourists were objects of curiosity. In those days, the Greeks even had a special branch of the police force to deal with them. The owners of rooms and Tavernas fussed over their visitors like solicitous aunts and uncles. Rather than being a visitor one felt like a prodigal son returning.
