" Let it come as it will ... " Jane Kenyon

Background Information

For the longest time I have wanted to come up with a pen name that I liked and would keep, perhaps even someday publish under.  At long last, I think this is perhaps, a keeper.

Roxie J. Marvel feels like a good fit, like comfortable jeans worn in just right.

I hope you find something among my words that you enjoy.

Some of you may know, or not know that my husband has been fighting cancer this year.  Because my time is needed I do not have a full membership at this time, and our budget does not have room for much extra right now.  Please keep us in your thoughts or prayers.

A support letter helped when I saw that the wife of a man with my husband's type of cancer said that "We have cancer.  One carries it in the body, but all who love them are touched by it."  How true these words - cancer loved ones know.

Peace and God bless.

live well
laugh often
love much

Let Evening Come

Let the light of late afternoon
shine through chinks in the barn, moving
up the bales as the sun moves down.

Let the cricket take up chafing
as a woman takes up her needles
and her yarn. Let evening come.

Let dew collect on the hoe abandoned
in long grass. Let the stars appear
and the moon disclose her silver horn.

Let the fox go back to its sandy den.
Let the wind die down. Let the shed
go black inside. Let evening come.

To the bottle in the ditch, to the scoop
in the oats, to air in the lung
let evening come.

Let it come as it will, and don't
be afraid. God does not leave us
comfortless, so let evening come.

~~Jane Kenyon (1947 - 1995)
