"We are pulsating symphonies of continuous creation but we are busy denying it". Kids, people, music, poetry, drama transmit that sublime rhythm. I am a Medical doctor, committed to personal and societal health through expression/communication, writing, painting, music and drama. Believes with Osiris, Ghandi, Mozart that the highest expression of humanness is affirmative non-violence.

Background Information

Greatest teacher is Music in all its forms, the dynamic arts, and sciences especially sciences of life. My great dream is to sow some seeds towards "musicalisation" of the World and of the process of human evolution and the emergence of a globalised multicultural multidimensional World community where all parties are inan intensely alive but dedicatedly non-violent interaction like in the "Marriage of Figaro" model left for humanity by Mozart. Most of all learnt from Mozart and his operas which I experience as alive and great without limit. At face value sweet polished nonesensities, for elitist snobish quasi aristocratic bores. In depth, I find them the most challenging, frightening and revolutionary works of art ever produced. They explode the very foundations of the good/evil, right/wrong, winner/loser orientation in the march of human social evolution*. Next comes Osiris, Gelgamesh, Ghandi, and the neglected knowledge of humanity in its virginal uncorrupted beginnings. Sophocles, Aeschylus but especially Euripides' "the Bacchae", and the recurrent Osirian drama. Studied Medicine at Cairo University, London, Glasgow and Edinburgh Universities, studied music in Cairo, Alexandria and at the Royal Academy of Music, London. The medical insight into the concept of integrative, inseperable human individual and societal health has helped no end in the development and maturation of a musico-dramatic vision of the human predicament and its primordial dramas as well as yearned-for resolutions. Deeply unhappy about international dynamics since the turn of the twenty first century which should and could have been the century of pluralistic peace and harmony i.e. the century of non-violence and music!

*Please read my commentary on Don Giovanni published in articles, coming up also is an analysis of The marriage of Figaro, Cosi Fan Tutte and The magic flute.

Accomplishments

Developed and applied the concept of "group evolution drama" in the sixties and seventies, both as growth and integration therapy and as an independent art form, and presented highly praised shows at UK student drama festivals London, Durham and Birmingham and at the Edinburgh festival of music and drama fringe(contratypeI and contratypeIII) and "the thing" directed by Sebastian Bergman and Mike Simpson. Introduced the concept of multidimensional interactive dynamism in Medicine and the health sciences in a book on Medical Endocrinology published by Mcmillan's London. Elected to the fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK.

Output on education, development and societal health largely ignored by the relevant authorities. Published medical research, includes a bulk of conventional research on thyroid disease, diabetes and Bilharzia. Much research to expose limitations of modern allopathic Medicine and to support alternative and complementary medicine as well as for the right of patients to be empowered about their own health and people to be empowered in relation to their own development. This work created overt and covert resistance in the medical and pharmaceutical establishments as well as in many power mafias. Relatively small output of poetry, music and drama, mostly conceived as for multimedia interactive performances. Writes in Arabic and in English. Hampered untill recently by his deep committment as Medic, academic researcher, teacher, public servant and NGO social worker committed to social and conceptual development(currently within the ZKH charity). Recently had a freak stroke traced to a violent attempted murder resulting in three near fatal stab wounds instigated by threatened power groups. Working hard to recover as much function as possible.

Additional Information

Published, in Egypt, a multimedia drama (Soliman) in Arabic with an addendum in the form of an analysis on the subjects of: music, drama, oppression, civilisation Religion, together with searching dialogues with Islamic Youth. Most recent work is a crystallisation of Osirian drama. Imagined as though it was told by Imhotep, the great sage of ancient times some 5000 years ago, in an attempt to save the real drama from threatened oblivion. Search on "Mozart and Osiris" you will also find links to poetry, mythology, paintings and music. At the turn of the century, suffered a freak stroke, as a long term complication of a violent attack, which left him paralysed on the left side. Determined with the help of friends, faith and love to recover full function. Already made sufficient progress to be writing profusely and working to publish a collected edition of works analysing contemporary and post WWII history with special focus on the Middle East. Like many other writers on authorsden working to transform his health crisis into creative breakthrough communication to all. Always had dreams about apparently impossible multimedia expressive potential which had colored much of his writing in poetry and drama. All multimedia dreams and more have at last become a reality with the digital revolution. Now most excited to see that time is ripe for the realisation of some of these dramas and dramatic poems in multimedia format without a cieling to the imagination. It all becomes more acute as the need for dialogue between North and South and between West and East especially the West and Islam emerges as of paramount and urgent importance.

The ZKH foundation for human development
THE ZKH FOUNDATION FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT founded 1993 in honour of Zenab Kamel Hassan: A defiant Egyptian Moslem Girl who defied everything to get access to an education at all, then to get a University education which in the early twenties meant: travelling alone to London, joining Clapham High School to get the matriculation, then joining London University, Bedford College to study Science and duly graduate in Chemistry1929 to become: the first Egyptian girl to graduate in Science in modern times. Her story of constructive defiance and struggle to set a different role model for Egyptian women and women in the Islamic World is summerized in the foundation booklet (published 1996:"Responding to the Challenges of the twenty first century"). She went on to fight her way into becoming the first woman to teach men Chemistry in Cairo University! The progressive marginalisation and disempowerment of like-minded and enlightened "rebels" represents a fundamental fulcrum in the study of the mechanisms of relapse of the extremely promising and developmental leap in the whole of the region as led by Egypt after the 1919 revolution and its highly fertile associations and offshoots. How was this great promise dismembered, marginalised and disempowered with the rise of unitary totalitarianism in politics and in thought/culture/religion, is worthy subject for several doctoral theses? The Foundation believes that the key to development is re-empowering the disempowered whether these are the poorer, the younger, the non-attached or the feminine or -sadly in totalitarian regimes- the citizenry!. The establishment of dialogue with all "other" is yet another commitment.(see links for the background philosophy).
