After purchasing my first computer I discovered how much easier it was to express myself through writing and sailed off into a whole new world not long after. A random word I encountered while scrolling through the thesaurus opened a window that catapulted me into writing my first novel.

The interesting thing was that I didn't plan any of it. The first few words of each chapter would just pop into my head and all I had to do was sit down at the keyboard and just go for it.  I have always worked in the same manner in whatever discipline I worked, but this was a far more interesting process, a much more direct way of creating and far more exhilarating.

I originally attended art college, completed a qualification as a teacher, a BA in Art and Psychology and then a Masters in Studies of Psychology with the specific aim of becoming an art therapist, but I never quite got there. I discovered the exciting new world of writing instead.

I usually work as a teacher, but every seven years I have to try my hand at something else. I have worked as a graphic artist in London, taught Advanced Adult Drawing classes, opened a fabric printing business with a friend and for many years I worked in a full-time art program in a psychiatric hospital in Melbourne, Australia. At the moment, I have reached the end of another 7 year cycle and am currently exploring my options.
