A bi-lingual journalist and award-winning poet, Augustine Sam is a member of the Chartered Institute of Journalists, U.K. and the International Society of Poets, U.S.A. Formerly a scriptwriter for radio and an occasional presenter, he was also Special Desk editor at THISDAY newspapers, an authoritative third-world daily published with the Financial Times of London. He later became correspondent for Central Europe and moved to Italy where, in addition to journalism, he began to write poetry. In 1998, “Anguish & Passion,” his entry poem in the North America Open Poetry Contest, won the Editors’ Choice Award and was published by the National Library of Poetry, USA, in the anthology, Sounds of Silence. Author of two thriller novels, he has been nominated twice for "International Poet of Merit Award," which he won in 2002 and was invited to be inducted into the International Society of Poetry as honorary member.
