Dr. Richard Leslie Parrott is the Founder and President of Seize Your Life, a corporation devoted to helping individuals and organizations take hold of life’s full potential by guiding them on a journey toward inner strength, personal purpose, healthy relationships, good character, and mature wisdom. The process helps individuals and organizations reach their goals through enhanced interpersonal intelligence, pervasive integrity, strategic wisdom, and empowering presence. At Seize Your Life, Inc., Dr. Parrott and his wife Shirley are fully committed to helping individuals and organizations realize life’s full potential.
Dr. Parrott is also a Professor of Education at Trevecca Nazarene University. He teaches classes at the Masters and Doctoral levels in Leadership and Research. At Trevecca he is also the Director of C.L.E.A.R. - The Center of Leadership Effectiveness and Renewal.
Dr. Parrott has served in professional Leadership for 30 years. For 20+ years he served several congregations as their minister. For six years he was the Director of the Doctoral Program at Ashland University and Assistant Professor of Leadership. He is also the founding Executive Director of the Sandberg Leadership Center at Ashland University, and had oversight of a million dollar Lilly grant on mentoring Leaders. He has facilitated national roundtables and edited books on Leadership Character and Leadership and Power.
Dr. Parrott is the author of Carpe’ Vitam: Seize Your Life, True and Best Authentic Living, The Balanced Leader, Personalities @ Work Master Series, Better Answers to Tougher Questions and Essentials: The Proven Path of Effective Leadership. He is also the author of a series of audio books, Welcome to the Balcony, which guide the listener on a path of personal and professional leadership development.
His particular interest and expertise is personal and professional development. Richard is frequently called upon to speak and lead seminars and development programs. He has worked collaboratively with Leadership centers at Yale, Claremont, and Gordon-Conwell. He has held seminars in strategic planning, team building, and Leadership development for groups such as the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy, the State of Ohio Executive Board of the Chamber of Commerce, the Seattle Leadership Conference, the Caucus of Republican Senators of the Ohio State Legislature, and the Special Operations group of the Federal Marshals, Justice Department, Washington, D.C.
Dr. Parrott has created and presented the Leadership Development Program, a ten-seminar series for team leaders and Transformational Coaching, a companion series for executive managers. The programs increase personal authenticity, improve professional competency, and impact business capacity.
His newest leadership development program is called Essentials - The Proven Path of Effective Leadership. This is a two part, five day series that is being taught across the country.
Dr. Parrott has also written a program on improving relationships. It is based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). His book: Personalities @ Work Master Series provides seven (7) sessions that introduce team members to “personality types,” involves them in personal discovery, and provides group conversations on topics such as “Communication Problems,” “Conflict,” and “What works best for me.” An on-line MBTI personality assessment is included. This provides a powerful tool for building relationships in the team.
