Greenville, Ms born, to a multi-racial man who was said to be the first black licensed crop duster in Mississippi and to a multi-raced woman, fiery, passionate, and sometimes mean as hell, a fighter if one dared to ignite her temper. One of the things that made her especially angry? Was to hear one of her children, whine, "I ca-a-an't!" Oh no no no - that was not allowed, no such word had better ever enter into anything that was expected of us, or that we personally sat out to accomplish.
Mother of 3 multi-raced children, their father Mexican - crazy - and me, their mother, child of a crazy woman, lol. Flowing though my blood stream and now theirs, Black, Cherokee Indian, Irish/Scot, Blackfoot, Indian, Crow, Englishmen and only God knows what else. Of my three children, come 5 grandsons, 2 white ones, LOL, 2 Mexican looking ones, and 1 black one! All beautiful, my B. M. W. Black Mexican White boys.
Married twice, did it right the second time. All together, I've lived 26 years of my life married between two men. The Mexican and the Yorkshiremen from England. Might as well brank him as my red-beard! LOL
As for my major influences when writing, a host of aunts and uncles, my mother, my rich amazing family background and history - with flavors from Kathleen E. Woodiwiss, Margaret Walker, F. Rosanne Bittner, and Virginia Henly; the bible, conspiracies, wars and injustice. My primary writing is about what I know, anything interracial. It is more than likely safe to say, that I may not find myself writing a novel that is entirely black on black or white on white. Mixed, multi, bi-racial interracial only!
Last, I want black women to rise, to stand back up, and to add a bit of a different view to bring us, black woman back up. All women are desirable and beautiful and for far too long, it would seem that society, fashion, trend, injustice has made it out that this is not the case for the black woman... oh no no no - must make an ajustment there, that also motivates and influences what I write and how I write it.
