I was born in Cork City Ireland shortly after WW2 at a time when poverty was rife, disease was rampant and educational and domestic violence were the norm in Ireland.
To say that my childhood was an extremely unhappy one would be to grossly understate it. It has taken me a lifetime of recconciliation to try and cope with the residual trauma but that, is another story... or should I rather say, another series of stories. I have been writing poetry (if that is what it might be rightly be called) since I was about eight or ten years of age and while my early writings were understandably fairly amateurish and consisted mainly of a brash mixture of anger, frustration and resentment, I belive my latter work is mature and far-sighted.
Although I have 'never' had anything professionally published I have written hundreds of poems and songs. These songs would have a rather romantic bent and my poetry seems to me to be somewhat unintentionally metaphysical.
I would consider myself a dilettante of sorts in that although I am adept in all literary forms I have never devoted myself exclusively to any particular one.
