Information
I am a lifetime writer who recently transitioned into a published author. My passion for writing began in college as I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Xavier University of Louisiana. I served as a columnist for the Xavier Herald, where I was able to display my love for creative writing. While earning a Master of Arts degree In Mass Communications, I interned at Black Enterprise Magazine and wrote nine published articles. After graduation, I worked in the public relations field for over six years, but recently got back to my creative writing roots and published my first book of poetry, Better Than Love. Better Than Love began as a single poem but its concept transformed into an entire collection. Through poetry, I am on a personal journey to find out if there is anything better than love.
My biggest poetic inspiration is Nikki Giovanni. Her works are very powerful as she inspires my writing style. Reading poetry by Nikki Giovanni encourages me to appreciate the power of words and language.
