Background Information

I am a genuine Chicagoan. I attended CPS as well as UIC. I was raised in the Cabrini-Green housing projects. I am now a WestSider focusing my writing on highlighting my side of town with stories that are unique and filled with lots of "twists" and turns.

Illinois Press Award in 2006 for an original column.

Additional Information

My first published book is Billion Dollar Winner. It is the story of a community activist who was the biggest protestor against the lottery. A new lottery game comes out the the prize amounts grows to be worth one billion dollars. My main character Valencia Banks Freeman comes to possess the winning ticket and the entire City of Chicago goes into an uproar when they learn it was she who had won.
