Chuck Kelly was born in Dallas, Texas, raised in Anadarko, Oklahoma, attended Oklahoma University, traveled some and became an entertainer and writer. (Photo by Shawn Kelly)


Background Information

Chuck played trombone with Ray McKinley, Dizzy Gillespie and other bands. He expanded his talents and became a group singer and sang with the Jones Boys, the Modernaires with Paula Kelly and other vocal groups. He eventurally became a studio singer where he sang on many recordings with Henry Mancini, Johnny Mathis, Kay Starr, Count Basie, Alan Copeland, Billy May, etc.. He performed on several network television shows that included the Red Skelton Show for 5 1/2 years, Danny Kaye Show 2 years and appeared on TV specials that starred Bing Crosby, Andy Griffith, Danny Thomas, Dick Van Dyke, etc. Chuck sang on several motion picture sound tracks: "Sweet Charity," 'Hello Dolly," "Peter Gunn," Darling Lilly," 'Star," "The Plainsman," etc.. 


Chuck has written for the National Enquirer, International Musician, Playboy, Ebony, Eros, Society of Singers Newsletter, etc. Chuck was technical writer for the book on education, "The Alchemy of Intelligence;" technical editor for the medical textbook, "Pharmacology, Biology, and Clinical Applications of Androgens," for Harbor-UCLA Medical Research Center. He has written technical material for Hughes Aircraft Company, etc., was 'on call' proposal writer at Boeing.


He wrote the novelization for the screenplay "Fowl Play" about cockfighting in the Philippines that starred Nancy Kwan. He has had two screenplays optioned.

Chuck has a Master's Degree in Communication and Organizational Theory from International College. He is also a Certified Hypnotherapist.

Chuck is listed in "5,000 Personalities of the World;" "Who's Who in Entertainment," 1992-97; "Who's Who in America," 1991-2011; '"Who's Who in the World," 1999; "International Who's Who in Music," Third Edition; Rene Laanen's "Trombone Page of the World."

Chuck has written seven novels, five of the books to be published in paperback by Crimson Cloak Publishing: "Adventure in The Secret City,"the fourth book in the children's/young adult book series was published in January, 2015, available on Amazon.com. The other three books in the Legend of Otherland series are, "Evil Does Exist" about a planet not too far from planet earth that could exist in your imagination, "Adventure Underground," finds Bunker taken prisoner by a one-inch tall man who takes him to the center of Otherland to defend the Floogleboppers against the Bargolians. and "Adventure in Space" finds Bunker and Gittel in Steven Charles' new spaceship as stowaways. Also to be released by Crimson Cloak Publishing, a western novel, "Sammy," about a black man who wants to become a cowboy after the Civil War, but through circumstances becomes a gunfighter. Two ebooks published by Synergebooks.com are "Makeup" (for Murder) a Crime novel by Sally & Dante Dattoli with Chuck Kelly about a man who must avenge his fatherís murder by the Mafia. He does so by using makeup to disguise himself differently for each kill. A mystery novel, "Silent Obsession," about a Washington DC private detective who also moonlights for the CIA. Chuck has adapted five of his novels for the screen and the screenplays are being represented by literary agent Alex Sullivan, LLB, Lawyer and Managing Director of ArgentuM.
