I am a general surgeon with a practice in the Houston, TX area; married with three children. I grew up in upstate New York, seventh of nine boys. In my younger days I spent a lot of time at the racetrack in Saratoga, New York. Horse racing and Saratoga pop up frequently in my writing. I graduated from Upstate New York to Baltimore, MD for college, attending Johns Hopkins University by way of Pimlico racetrack. Medical School at the Univ. of Rochester in New York came next, which led to the Finger Lakes region of New York, wineries and, of course, Finger Lakes racetrack.
My surgical training started in Dallas, Texas, at that time devoid of horse racing, but I did manage to meet my wife during my two years in residence. I finished residency on Long Island at Nassau County Medical Center and then found my way back to Texas, settling in Houston for the last 19 1/2 years. My career in surgery and the experiences I had at various racetracks shape much of my writing, in addition, much of what I write now carries religious themes as well. My novel, "Future Hope", its sequel "Joshua and Aaron" and many of my blog posts reflect my beliefs.
I started writing again about three years ago and have one novel, Future Hope ITP Book One that was released in January. A sequel is already nearing completion. The stories are futuristic, leaning heavily towards the clash between science and religion, but (I've been told) very entertaining. I try to weave some philosophy and speculation on humanity and its future into an engrossing plot., with a bit of romance thrown in.
I have a blog with a few posts on the current health care debate and several other interesting and informative articles. Check it out if you want a physician's perspective.
