Hello, I am Frank Evans, a new entry into the world of writing for fun and profit! I have had a modicum of success from my first book, but will continue to venture forth into the fray with confidence and humility.
My career as a military officer provided many diverse experiences for me and my family. We've seen many different cultures and learned to respect other's values. I retired after twenty-six years in the military. I worked as an Executive for the Boy Scouts of America for about a year and a half then went back to my military environment. I worked as a defense contractor for one of the U.S. Army's Battle Labs where I supervised computer simulations during research and experimentation of potential new tactics and equipment. I concurrently taught microcomputer applications at a local community college two nights a week for around 11 years.
As far as my main motivation for writing my current book, I was the typical teenager of the sixties. I was mostly a carefree youngster who had two major concerns in life: gasoline and perfume. That is, I was interested in cars and girls and how to get both. I spent most of my time carousing, drinking, going to the drive-in movies, lying on the beach, and working as little as I could in order to keep me in gasoline and girlfriends. I was a good student who went to college because most of my friends did and a major factor was to keep ahead of the draft. I was lucky to get a student loan, but spent my year at Florida State University avoiding studies. I was young and irresponsible.
When a close friend was killed in combat in Vietnam all of that changed. I was deeply saddened and realized I was wasting my life and I had no purpose. Although my father was intensely against my joining the Army, I felt I had to go and find out what had given my friend such self-assurance. I was angry and felt a need to avenge his sacrifice. I guess that I was also looking for a bit of adventure with all this.
Writing that book unleased a desire to write that had been somewhat dormant for years. Now I can't wait to get to my computer and let my imagination run wild as I develop characters, and weave them into interesting stories that, I hope, will develop a following that will support my continued works.

I am currently working on a fictional thriller. Check out my web site and look under TABS: Works in Progress and Shorts. Additionally, you'll find the beginning of a nonfictional account of my wife's struggle against the cancer that took her life in 2008. It relates the story of how our family faced the reality of her illness and her continuing courage, while we wrestled through our personal stages of grief.
