Emekwulu’ s interest in writing and publishing began with a newspaper article he wrote while serving in
what is called the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at New Era College, Benin City, Edo State,
Nigeria. While a teacher at Boys’ High School, Uga, he self - published a pamphlet which sold 100
copies in its first printing and 1,000 copies in a second printing. Shortly after, he immigrated to the United
States, where his fascination with writing and publishing led him to write his first, full - fledged book,
