Bishop Freddie Steel is founding and senior pastor of Life Church of Chicagoland, a multi-cultural charismatic church that is building a bridge of compassion and care to everyone, everywhere.
Freddie's late father, Freddie Steel, Sr., was also a church planter, pastor and revivalist. His first ancestor to call America home, Rev. Captain John Steel, Sr., came to the Colonies in 1732 from Ireland to plant churches and to train young men in the ministry.
Rev. Captain Steel was a very influential pastor and military leader during the French and Indian and Revolutionary Wars. He was well acquainted with George Washington and several other military and political leaders of the day. He was appointed chaplain to the Colonial Militia by the Penns and called upon by George Washington to serve the same and was promoted to Captain.
Freddie's earlier ancestors were founding influences in the Second Scottish Reformation and trace his earliest ministerial ancestors back to the late 1500's with Rev's Gideon and William Delaune.
Freddie is married to Mary Gaye Kirk Steel and have one daughter, Kaitlind.
