A graduate of the Royal Veterinary College, London, I, (Bob Hart), do solemnly swear that I am a veterinarian with more than forty years experience in academia and private practice in the UK and USA. I am also an experienced husband of many years. My wife, Veronica, and I are active members of the Florida Writers Association, and several theater companies. This means we have to keep up the appearance of being semi-literate.
Having been laughed at by clients and patients over the years, I thought to share the experiences. Had I not done so, my wife, also a writer, would have written about me out of spite--well I am sure it would have been loving spite! She writes 'Murder Mystery Plays', and I would be sure to be the victim--it's how she gets rid of her frustrations.
Hart's Original Petpourri, Vol 1, Miscellany, will be followed by Vol 2, 'Cageliners", a series of vignettes about pets, vets and owners. Veterinarians often line their cages with newspaper which can be easily disposed of when soiled (it's also cheap). There are those who say that this should be the fate of the paper these little stories are written on.
My feline editor, Oliver, says I only write because I am vindictive. Maybe I don't feed him enough? However he doesn't like my food, bought wrapped in plastic, and I do not share his preference for natural food, such as lizards. And he doesn't tolerate being laughed at, as I do.

Selling books is exciting and scary, like giving away puppies from a favourite litter. How will they be treated? Will they be played with for a while then ignored? Will that wonderful new owner tell all his friends what an incredible litter you have raised?
An animal charity has been promised an amazing reward if I meet a challenge.
My belief in my puppies is on the line. The challenge—raise $10,000 for the Halifax Humane Society of Volusia County through my contribution of one dollar for each sale of 5000 print copies of Hart’s Original Petpourri between now and the end of the year (2010).
The reward—if I reach 5000 sales, an anonymous donor will match the dollar amount. My book is available from my web site and all bookstores including Amazon.com
Halifax re-homes 15,000 animals a year, runs a spay/neuter program, and provides education to the public and our schools. As a personal goal it gives my life a new purpose—as a kick in the butt, it beats energy drinks every time! And everyone who buys a book will know they are contributing to a good cause.
You can find out about my litter, and me, the guy who bred them, on the following websites. http://www.Originaldrhart.com The new pages come up as separate PDF files.
