Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dale wrote his first story at the age of eight years. It was a western... it had to be a western, because at eight years old, the only things he cared about were cowboys, horses, and guns. His first story was never published. After graduating highschool he worked and traveled with a rock and roll band, up the east coast and into Canada. They worked in nightclubs, and lived in hotels out of suitcases for two years. Dale describes that period as his college education.Eventually going into computers, he was employed in banking operations, and bought his first personal computer - a Tandy, which he paid $2000 for. He started writing more often, but was too involved in being a bachelor to get very serious about it. He left banking and became a licensed Private Investigator, working as an Insurance Fraud Investigator. He did that for eleven years, and it was during that time that the Carl Jacobs Mystery series first came to mind. Eventually he married (at the age of 54) and got serious about his writing. He is a member of the Mystery Writers Of America, The Tulsa Nightwriters, The Oklahoma Writers Federation, Inc, and Oklahoma Mystery Writers. He is also is very active in independent film making, as is his wife Sherry, who is an award winning actor, both on stage and in film.
