The  major influence on my writing comes from being born on the Lake of the Woods south of Kenora Ontario Canada. This is a large body of water with thousands of islands filling it. It was at our homestead on the lake which required either getting there by boat, an hour and a half ride or by aircraft  a twenty minute flight,and it was this travelling  that later developed into the love of float planes, bush flying as well as the outdoors. Fishing and flying became my main joy both as relaxation and income. Guiding was always a thrill for me and the many stories of  fishing  and hunting trips that developed out of it. It was these stories of pilots, guides and the tourists that made many of the stories in my books come to life.
