God’s promise to heal me of a mental illness sustained me for ten years, until the day of restoration arrived.

Background Information

For 15 years of my life I dealt with a mental illness. I was not only Bi-Polar, but also Boarderline Personality Disorder. Along with individual and group counseling, I took several medications. For years I loathed who I was. I could not look at myself in the mirror without being disgusted with the sight of myself. I was in and out of mental hospitals, but through it all, I knew God could and would heal me! For many years I could not comprehend much; yet I understood that God seen something good within me. So I clung to my faith knowing the healing would come. No one or nothing was going to take that from me! And believe me the devil tried.

I put a lot of hard work and effort into my counseling sessions; facing a lot of heart aches others caused, and many troubles I brought on myself. I also battled a few demons, but I never stopped seeking and praising God, or giving him the glory for anything good that happened in my life. Bottom line, God was my main source of survival. I knew he loved and accepted me and would heal me some day.

Eventually, ten years later, the day of restoration arrived! About a year later, my counselor and Psychiatrist took me off my medication and told me there was nothing more they could do for me. I have been off medication for over 11 years! Many try to down play the healing work of God by saying maybe I was misdiagnosed. Right before my counselor released me she told me, “Annete I counsel several woman, and there is about five I thought would never ‘Get it’, and have a manageble life; Well, Annette you were in the top three!” When I heard it really impacted what God has done in my life. I knew I was unstable, but once she told me that it only comfirmed how bad others seen me as well. I walked away glorifying God for the miracle in my life, promising to never stop. I always prayed, “God if I could help at least one person, it will all be worth it!

My Testimony
A testimony is the light that shines for all to see the change Jesus has made in our life. He has changed me so much hardly anyone who knew me before recogizes me.

Love and Acceptance Back Matter
Love & Acceptance • I refused to let go of my confidence or the actuality of the love and acceptance Jesus held for me, even if I was flawed with a mental illness. • The cycle of dysfunction spun Annette Robertson’s life out of control until it was ruled by a mental illness. God’s promise to heal her sustained her for ten years, until the day of restoration arrived. After taking back the territory of her mind that the devil had tried claiming, Annette discovered how Love and Acceptance of oneself is learning to appreciate who God designed her to be. Despite the obstacles within Annette’s mind, God’s love helped her to accept who she was, even at her worst. • Readers will see through this inspirational story that Love and Acceptance of others across denominational lines begins with an appreciation for individuality.
