“Can’t stop won’t stop,” Latisha Patterson joked when asked what her favorite quote was. And, in a sense, it fits her life appropriately. Nothing has come easy for this mother of two. But, she has remained steadfast to her goals, taking on life before it gets a chance to take over her. Her inspiration? Two girls she feels deserve a life fit for princesses.
While fiction writing wasn’t something she dived into headfirst, this Richmond, VA native began with poetry. It helped her deal with the challenges and hold on to the great memories that life presented her with. “It all started with the movie Poetic Justice,” she recalls.
During a span of customer service and retail jobs, Latisha obtained her associates degree in business management. It wasn’t until she began to pursue her bachelor’s degree did she realize it was time to turn her passion into a business. “This whole book publishing experience has definitely been an eye-opener,” she starts and continues to tell of the hardships in the business. She’s even been ripped off on one occasion! But she continues to work to bring readers what they need -- variety. With the debut of her first fiction novel, Airing Out Dirty Laundry, she has already begun to work on a novel of erotica and deceit and brainstorming on a sequel to the debut.
“Most authors become so boxed in their novel themes that when you want something new, you have to go somewhere new. I want my readers to expect the unexpected.” Needless to say, her Sagittarius traits lead the way, as they are one of the hardest signs to understand.
Latisha’s friends and family describe her as a crazy diva with a knack for shopping and can’t deny the size of her heart as she goes above and beyond to help out when needed. Throughout her stories, you will create a love and hate with the characters -- but a literary relationship with her is one that will become inevitable.
