Meijer specializes in medical thrillers. A former New York City Paramedic, Director of the Nationally Emergency Care Advisory Council and an author for the Ford Forundation, Meijer is fascinated by the possible outcomes of our foreign pollicy. She has been compared to Stephen King, John Grisham, Robin Cook and Tess Gerritsen.
Her first novel Provenance is a fictionalization of a rescue in New York in which a 35-ton building crane tipped over an unprotected sidewalk pinning a heroic woman by the legs for many hours as Emergency Medical Services tried to find a way to extricate her without killing her.
Her most recent novel Tranquillity Initiative is the story of an anthrax attack on New York City. It is an intriguing book about what develops after our President, in order to win reelection, uses illegal anthrax weaponry on a country with which we are at war. Two of the weapons are stolen from our base in Turkey and returned to America. The story is a race to the death to prevent millions of New Yorkers from being condemned to death.
Her new book in process, Accidental Consequences is a possible outcome of the outing of Valarie Plame.
