I was raised in Southern California and grew up in Phoenix, AZ, with a short stop over in Waterloo, IA. I'm the oldest of three children. I'm currently married and living in North Hollywood, CA.
I attended California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Of course there I was studying biology, but writing has always been a part of my life. I wrote my first book when I was five. Don't get too excited, it was a Mother's Day project and my mom still has it, but it was a book and I did it only with the help of my teacher. Then it was on to poems and short stories, but I didn't delve into writing full force until my late twenties, where I took a screen writing class. I've written several screenplays (again, don't get excited, they haven't been produced) and studied film making. In 2003, I got the idea for my first novel and set out to write it. I finished it in 2009. During which time, I've also been a book reviewer for The Blend Radio/ Magazine.
I'm currently working on several plays to produced later this year by Askew Theatre and the Blend Radio. I'm also working on the sequel to my first novel.
My Major Influences are Stephen King, whom I began reading at fourteen. I Christmas present from my father. I contracted pneumonia and decided to read THe Stand. Captain Trips for real! I was also very into Dean Koontz (these are my obvious horror years. I used to also go to the drug stores and buy the mass paperbacks from relatively unknown authors. I ended reading some amazing books.
Years later, I became influenced by J. K. Rowling and Robin Jarvis. Their style and depth of story seemed to be the perfect continuation of character study for me, having come from the dirty grittiness of S. King and D. Koontz. I'm influenced by everything I read in whatever form it comes to me.
