Gypsy Marie Roberts was born in Harzard, Kentucky, a small coal-mining community. She received her B.A. in English at Eastern Kentucky State Teacher's College, now Eastern Kentucky University and her M.A. from the University of Colorado in Boulder. She taught Comparative Government, then English in the Denver Public Schools for twenty-nine years, moving to Lexington, Kentucky after retiring, where she taught business writing at Fugazzi Business College, and composition for the University of Kentucky at Lexington Community College.
She moved to The Villages, Florida in 2002 where she founded two clubs--The Greenbriar Wild Berries, a branch of the Red Hat Society, the Creative Writing (Fiction) for Publication Club, and the Florida Writers Association. She also was the Communications Director for the American Association of University Women in 2008 in The Villages, Florida.
