She was born in Manila in 1936 to a chemistry professor board topnotcher from Laguna and his comely wife (formerly his student) from the lovely isle of Negros Occidental… Growing up in Bacolod City, she eventually joined the teaching profession… got married in 1962 at age 25 to another Negrense, an accountant, who was with the Philippine National Bank by day, and a college professor at night.
They had three children: a boy followed by two girls.
After being a molder of youth for 10 years, she joined a pioneer direct selling sales company, and very soon found herself running the Western Visayas region operations of Mondragon Industries. After being a part of Mondragon for 10 years, she and her husband felt that they were now ready to put up their own direct selling company, which they named JAG Marketing, an acronym for their children’s first name initials. These were busy… and productive... years for them!
In 1991, the good Lord told our accountant, “I need you here now with me”. And widowed at the young age of 54, she decided to pursue a career in counseling, which had always been an attractive option for her. Involving herself in helping to heal others in their marital and family relationships, as well as in caring for sexually abused children thru her Silver’s Foundation, she thought she had already found what the Lord had created her for.
But, the Lord still had other plans for her… He still wanted to take her to other lands. In the year 2000, after having been a widow for 9 years, she got married to a Canadian and consequently lived in British Columbia, Canada with him. But, the Lord wanted to expand her territory some more. Their marriage was short lived… 2 1/2 years… and in 2003, she found herself a widow... again.
This American Air Force retiree, whom she had met in 1996 in the Philippines, then re–entered her life, and, both being of mature age at this time, responded to our Lord’s call for them to live the rest of their golden years together. On February 07, 2004, they were married by Catholic chaplain Father Dave Voelker at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA.
Today, they live in Blaine, Washington, a city very close to the border to British Columbia, Canada, where they are affiliated with two faith communities, Couples for Christ and the Divine Mercy. And she tells all of us here, “Come visit us anytime… just let us know beforehand that you are coming,”
