Dr. E. Michael Geiger, optometrist, was the eye expert on the expert panel of the Dr. Andrew Weil website and on his 8 Weeks to Optimum Health website. He was the featured guest on radio talk shows where he discussed the information in his latest book, “Eye Care Naturally.” Dr. Geiger has lectured on natural prevention and treatment of several eye diseases as found in his book. He has spoken in numerous New York City locations as well as in Atlanta and the Greensboro area in Georgia. He is listed on the Eye Site website as being in the top 2% of nutritional eye care specialists in the USA, and was the only one listed in New York City. He has created a nutritional and lifestyle program for each of several eye diseases, some of which have no medical treatment. In his book, “Eye Care Naturally” he provides a natural guide for the prevention and treatment of cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, dry eyes, retinitis pigmentosa, styes, red eye and computer eyestrain. The book is available on his website or at his lectures.
Dr. Geiger was a practicing optometrist for over forty six years. He received his Bachelor of Arts at Columbia College in New York and received his Bachelor of Science and Doctorate in Optometry (O.D.) from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He is a past president of the Queens County Optometric Society. He has written many optometric articles and booklets for publication. His writings have appeared in Optometric journals, nutritional publications and lay publications. About fifteen years ago Dr. Geiger became interested in nutrition and how proper diet affects not only the body as a whole but specifically the eyes. He has studied and researched vast information on nutrition and the role it plays in vision and health. He also has extensively surveyed numerous nutritional supplement companies that make claims about their products and eye care. He is on the Medical Advisory Board of two of them. He distributes the products that he has found to be the best in terms of ingredients and absorbability. Dr. Geiger was invited to be one of the Founding Directors of the Ophthalmic Nutrition Society where he was a frequent contributor. He teaches eye doctors how to add nutritional eye care into their practice and teaches the public through lectures and articles. He is looking for interested groups where he can deliver a talk. There is no charge for his talks. He now resides in Boca Raton, FL.
