Julianna Kozma’s debut novel, Mosquitoes of Summer (McArthur & Co., 2010), was the 2009 winner of Book Idol. Julianna worked as a financial journalist before becoming a teacher and writer. She divides her time and sanity between the Laurentians in Quebec and French River in Prince Edward Island, where she lives with her husband, their two zany children, and crazy pet parrots, Mr. Bean and Pickles.
Her newest book is Secrets of the Dunes: A Hannah and Emily Morgan Mystery (McArthur & Co., September 2011). Its the exciting continuation from where Mosquitoes of Summer left off.
Inspiration is not always obvious, and for years I was sure I had nothing to write about. Now I know that was just denial. I had loads of juicy material. The question was, did I want to air our family's dirty laundry? Heck, YES!!!!
The end result is two books loosely based on the incredibly silly but hilarious antics of my kids, with more novels to follow.
