Mr. Geschke is a student of history whose area of expertise is 20th century politics and military conflicts.

Background Information

Mr. Geschke was born and raised in Cleveland Ohio.  He graduated from Kent State University in 1969 with a B.S. in comprehensive social studies in the college of education.  He received an ROTC commission upon graduation and went on active duty as an infantry officer.  He served on active duty in Germany, Panama and Vietnam from 1969 to 1972.

His first book titled "In Our Duffel Bags, Surviving the Vietnam Era" is an army memoir which he co-authored with his longtime army buddy Robert A. Toto.  This memoir details not only the war in Southeast Asia during the time of Vietnamization, it goes into great depth about the Cold War in Europe.  There are few books outlining the effects of Vietnamization, so in effect this memoir is a groundbreaking work which should be taken seriously in its historical context.  Also the book goes into much historical detail of what it was like to serve as a Cold Warrior.  It shows the lives of junior officers who served during the Cold War era and gives the background and the feelings of living in Europe during this time span.

This work is not a mere memoir but also an historical and political statment that is as relevant today as it was in the late 1960S and the 1970S.
