I think that I was a horse in another life! I understand them and have an empathy that is scary at times. My horses tell their own tales in my "Backyard Horse Tales" series.
Background
Information
Jackie’s first recognition as a writer came in the eighth grade, and scared the tar out or her. She had to hold on to the lectern in the auditorium to quell the shakes when her English teacher decided that the rest of the student body should hear the results.
Writing took a back seat to a busy life filled with children, horses, operating an in home ceramic art studio, filling custom orders, and gigs as guest instructor at other studios. During that time Jackie wrote for several saddle clubs that used the Horseman’s Corral as their newsletter. Most recently she wrote content, designed ads, and did layout for Central Ohio Reining Horse Association’s show series brochure between 2003 and 2008.
Writing became a way to escape, to relax, and let her imagination take over. Jackie went back to college as a grandmother, after an absence of thirty years, to bone up on English Composition, and Creative Writing.
The result is her “Backyard Horse Tales” series of family friendly stories narrated by the horse in each book. “Sox” was the first of the tales, and the second edition is receiving early rave reviews. Sox, is a modern day horse who struggles with a handicap. Sox print version can be purchased at the book website in print, listed below. Backyard Horse Tales 2 “Frosty and the Nightstalker” is now available as an e-book.. It has a historical and paranormal twist, and can be previewed at the end of the Sox tale. Frosty is slated for print release in Marchl of 2013 The Prelude: Backyard Horse Tales 3 “Don’t Call Me Love” is also available as an E-book on Smashwords and Amazon. (Love's Prelude is now Free on Smashword) Look for her complete tale in the fall of 2013. This little gal is full of surprises. Love’s tale is the result of requests from the real life horse’s fans that keep asking for her story. All Backyard Horse Tales are Family-Friendly and written for age 8 and up.
Jackie turned her attention to the adult novel. Her 2011 National Novel Writing Month winner "Fateful Waters" written as J.M. Anton is now in print as well as e-book.
