Background Information

I left school early to go to sea, joined my first ship in Japan and spent the next 40 years wandering over the oceans and many lands of this world writing as I went.  Now, as the benevolence of time has hopefully endowed upon me some refective ability and a modicum of sgacity, I feel it time to share my experiences and the lessons learned.  Currently I live in Canada, though that could change at the call of adventures new, but my longest sojourn was in the British Virgin Islands.  Before my extensive travels through the Caribbean I was in Southern Africa, a magical time that  included a sojourn in a country that no longer exists.

My "Wanderings and Sojourns" series of books stem from many of the experiences and encouunters along that rather unusual road and, as book one's title suggests, "On Five Continents and Three Oceans" the stories and poems they contain cover many parts of the planet.  Book 3 in the series is all poetry while books one and two are a blend of short (true) stories and poetry.  All the stories have a philosophical discussion as a post script so the reader can not only share in the experiences but also consider the lessons learned upon a somewhat eventful life's journey.  Even the poems are stories in their own right and many also contain life-learned/earned philosophies.

From the ancient history of the Peruvian Andes to the savannahs of Southern Africa, from port towns of India to the tranquility of Caribbean Islands, war, love, shipwreck, nature, beauty, loyalty, Aboriginal culture, sailboat racing, fear, corporate folly, rugby, commercial diving, man's lamentable regard for his environment, childhood and myriad other subjects are discussed through the real life tales recounted as seen through the eyes of the person who lived them all.
