The desire to write these books came from the idea that a character who is a sphere would have a hard time staying still, while other shapes would be more stable. Having lived and worked with many who’s minds tend to wander, setting up a story to tell all three sides was something I wanted to try.
These books are intended for children between 2 and 5. Since kids like reading the same books repeatedly, telling the same story from three different perspectives can help them understand people. As the books are intended for children, and to be read more than once, the hope is for parents to read all three to the children and compare how the different characters interact.
Creating the story involved setting up scenes and story frames that allowed all three characters to interact. Part of the challenge was setting up a story where all three characters each had an equal part. The other challenge was creating scenes where the placement of shadows reflected how the protagonist felt, without contradicting the other characters and their feelings.
