In one of my earliest memories, I am sitting on my father’s lap listening to a bedtime story. His stories were always original, always exciting, and they took me out of my small space into larger worlds of adventure, intrigue, and wild creatures. He enjoyed the outdoors, so I did too, and when I was old enough, he took me with him on “adventures.”
The gifts of my early childhood—a love for story and for nature—stood me in good stead during my lonely teen years. In the books I read and the stories I began to write for myself, I found companionship and a challenge: to learn, to grow, and to improve my craft. To this day, a fascination with wilderness and wild creatures pervades my writing as I continue to write and learn.

My current inspiration is the New Jersey Pine Barrens. I’ve found story settings in the abandoned cranberry bogs, historic ruins, and unique animals. One April, I listened to a chorus of rare Pine Barrens Treefrogs, and I knew I had to share these marvelous creatures with children.
As a result, I began writing the Tales of Friendship Bog--a series for young readers. These books follow the adventures of Pibbin, a tiny but brave Pine Barrens Treefrog. Book 3 is on the artist's desk and Book 4 is calling.
