I was born in North Carolina in 1963, and I grew up in NC and Florida. I've been everything from a hog farmer to a self-styled computer guru. I moved to Hong Kong in 1999 and married an Australian. Now I teach English in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China.
My writing is influenced by everything from ancient Greek philosophy and Existentialism to modern potboilers and bad Hollywood movies. I especially love Kurt Vonnegut, Gene Roddenberry and Matthew Kneale.

I started writing "seriously" in the 1980s. Following a long hiatus from writing, I ran off to Hong Kong and resumed my career with a vengeance. I published twenty stories in twenty different magazines in 2000, wrote four books in 2001, and am publishing those books in 2002.
Now I'm an editor for epublishers in the US and Canada, and a legal transcriptionist and proofreader in Hong Kong. When I'm not working in the "real world," that is, teaching English in China. Thank you Internet!
