Background Information

Son of an Irish country GP. Brought up in Southern and Northern Ireland, student in Belfast during political upheavals of late 1960s/early 1970s. Ran a pirate radio station. Lived communally in a number of very idealistic (anarchist inspired) groups. Launched, edited & contributed to various Northern Ireland student publications. Has lived in London since mid 1970s doing generally similar but less exciting things. Travelled the world as a tourist/diver/nature-lover.

Birth Place

Accomplishments

Achievements: Survived for sixty-five years (at time of writing) on surface of planet earth, sanity relatively intact. Managed to remain good friends with my daughter throughout her teenage years.
Certification: PADI Open-Water Diver. Licenced Radio Amateur. M.A. in Philosophy from London University. Awards: Have won or been placed in a few short story competitions over the years. Regularly won the school High Jump as a boy due to length of legs.

Additional Information

First book "Sirat" (now in its second edition) still available from Amazon etc. This is a sci fi story about the first emergence on earth of electronic intelligence, and how this affects ordinary people. Short story collection "The Rainbow Man and Other Stories" published by Bluechrome in the UK in 2003 at 7.99, then again by Merilang Press in 2010 at the same price. 23 of my best-loved short stories (no particular genre). Second short story collection "The Other End of the Rainbow" published by Merilang in the UK in 2008 at 7.99. 25 of my more recent stories including the novella-length mystery story "Sam". Fourth book, a novel entitled "Engineering Paradise", published by Merilang Press in November 2011, is semi-autobiographical and deals with a teenage boy growing up in Belfast in the 1960s during the emergence of the modern IRA, The gradual decline of his idealism as he becomes drawn-in to the IRA. His one-sided love affair with a beautiful but promiscuous hippy folk singer and their attempt to build together a commune based on the ideas of the 17th century Diggers. E-mail me if you would like signed copies of any of these books, all of which are available on Amazon and elsewhere.
