Dillehay's first book, "Weaving Profits", was hailed as "the blueprint for success in the crafts industry" by The Crafts Report. He has been interviewed in Family Circle and Working Mothers magazines. His book, "The Basic Guide to Selling Arts and Crafts", is called "the how-to of how-to books" by Amazon.com and was included in the training program of the Association of Creative Craft Industries (ACCI). James is a member of the advisory boards to the National Craft Association and ArtisanStreet.com. He was listed in the 1998 "Who's Who of American Entrepreneurs."

In the fall of 2000, he published the first book written to help craft artists understand how to successfully promote their work online in, "The Basic Guide to Selling Crafts on the Internet". In January 2001, he published "Your Guide to Ebook Publishing Success" to help writers learn how to make money from epublishing. James is coauthor of the forthcoming "Guerilla Marketing, The Artisan's Way" with Jay Conrad Levinson.
