I love words--reading them as well as writing them. One of my favorites is "serendipity". Also known as: "Don't worry; something will fall in your lap."

Background Information

I wrote my first book at the age of six. The book was "Heidi", by Johanna Spyri. But I 'wrote' it all--first page to last--on lined, yellow, legal-size pads, copied painstakingly in a child's illegible scrawl. I vowed that someday I would write my own stories. I started small, with poems and essays and short stories, which were published in school newsletters, children's magazines, and a few local publications. More recently, I completed my first novel "The Pope and Rainbow Sprinkles". Currently, I am compiling essays for a non-fiction anthology called "Better Strangers".

Additional Information

On Monday, April 9, 2001, the Los Angeles Times printed an article about a Superior Court juvenile intervention program which features an essay I wrote. "The Road" tells the true story of a mother mourning her 17-year-old son after his death in a car accident. In one Los Angeles -area courtroom, juveniles convicted of driving-related offenses are required to read the essay and give the judge a written report on what they've learned, in hopes that these kids will think about the effect their actions may have on their loved ones--BEFORE they get behind the wheel.
